Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon: The 2nd part. Finished.

Finally the second part of the Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon for my Canadian Company is done. I started with this part at the end of November 2010 ( Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon: The 2nd part) but because of all kind of circumstances it took much longer then planned to paint this part.
One thing I am considering is to repaint the shells with another color.
It will now form together with the first part of the platoon (Field Battery, Royal Artillery Platoon end result)  a platoon that contains eight 25 pdr guns. The Canadian Company with the Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon can be from the Turning Tide handbook or, if I wish, from the old Monty's Meatgrinder handbook.

Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon: The 2nd part

Since a few day's i have the 2nd part of the Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon for my Canadian Company. The box is a birthday gift. Thanks guys.
Now with this box in my possession the total of 25 pounder guns in the platoon  will be brought to a total of 8 guns.
There are a few things in the box that i don't need anymore for the platoon. The Staff team and a command team but these will always come in handy for other projects like objectives.
Now,of-course,  i want to start as quick as possible to paint these but there is 1 problem; I can't go outside to prime them. It is freezing here. I do have an inside location that i can use to prime but in this room it is also pretty cold. I need to find a good solution to prime them cause i don't have it planned to do it all by hand.
And later, after it is all painted let's hope it's a little warmer here so i can seal them without destroying it (misty look after applying the varnish).

Field Battery, Royal Artillery Platoon end result

This is the end result of the Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon for my Canadian Company.
I know it probably won't be an award winning platoon for painting but i think it will look great on the gaming table.
The intention is to, in the future, increase the size of the platoon with four more guns.
I am sorry for the crappy pictures. Somehow no matter what i did the photo's turned out bad. In real the platoon looks better.

Monty's Meatgrinder army file update

New update for the Monty's Meatgrinder army file available. Version 1.7
A minor bug fixed in the OoB of the file.
When you selected the Heavy mortar platoon or the Tank Destroyer Platoon they showed up twice on the OoB when it should be only once.
Excel, Excel 2007, OpenOffice file available.

Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon Update 1

The Guns, gun crew and bases are done. I only need to fetch up a little bit, add some flock and then seal it.
The faces of the crew are horrible cast specially the one sitting on the gun. Next time i probably ask BF for new minis.
Because they aren't sealed yet the minis look very shiny on the pictures, so it is a little difficult to see the painting details. But i hope enough can be seen.

My new project to paint

Next to paint for my Canadian army: A Field Battery, Royal Artillery platoon.
This is just the first part of the platoon, after this one a second one will follow to complete the whole platoon. But i first have to save money to buy the box. ;)
It contains: Four 25pdr Guns with scenic bases and gun crew, One observer with OP Carrier, Two Command teams and One Staff team.
So far it's all primed and the guns have their base-coat.



After this i have to do a full platoon off 5 M5A1 Stuart tanks and 1 M8 Greyhound.

Updated Army file for British and Canadian 3rd Division

An Updated Army file for British and Canadian 3rd Division (Monty's Meatgrinder) available.
Repaired the wrong point cost in the OoB for 1st Machine gun platoon if you take a Piat.
Also if you selected the 1st Machine gun platoon the 2nd machine gun platoon also appeared on the OoB. This is now corrected.

Canadian tanks.

Now that i got my camera i can finally place some pictures of my painted tank platoon for my Canadian 3rd Division 7 (Western) Brigade Regina Rifles Regiment.
The tank platoon is from the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade 6th Armoured Regiment (1st Hussars) B Squadron.









Oh and 1 day I learn to make better pictures.

New Monty's Meatgrinder list.

Replaced the Monty's Meatgrinder (Canadian/British forces) list with a newer version.
The old file contained some mistakes.
-Points for Commandos weren't working properly when you took them with Canadians.
-The Cell security were you can set the army point cost is removed.

Changes in some army excel files

I made some changes in the following files:

US Airborne HH
-The Airborne Divisional recon platoon was listed as having a HQ section which it hasn't. This is changed.

US Airborne D minus 1
-A few rows in the OoB weren't working.

British/Canadian 3rd Division (Monty Meatgrinder)
-When you choose only wasp carriers. It now no longer list as "Carrier patrols: not selected Wasp patrol" but simple as "Carrier patrols: Wasp patrol" in the OoB.

Canadian Universal Carriers and 6 Pounder Guns

Between building army excel files i also found time to do some painting. (Click on the pictures to increase the size)
Let's start with the Canadian Universal Carriers Patrol.

Of 2 Carriers i drilled out the MG port at the front and placed the extra Hull MG there. The 3th Carrier got the Extra Hull MG placed at the top of the carrier. The Commander got an extra .50 cal browning. Two are missing the stars on the side. I ran out of decals and forgot to order some extra. Feel stupid now.







The Canadian 6 pounders.
As i don't have a platoon commander for this platoon...yet. I decided to use the Stan Hollis mini plus 1 extra mini that came with the British company box for this roll. I play Canadian not British. :)
Also i like to add 2 more 6 pdr's to this platoon.

New British / Canadian excel file

I made some changes to the British / Canadian file. (The counting of the total point-cost of the company wasn't working correctly).
Because the site that normally host my files doesn't work properly, the downloaded file doesn't show up for download (Not the first time), made me decide to create a webpage on an old website i have and upload my files there for download.

One day old and i already made an important update in the British / Canadian Excel file.
I forgot that when you don't take an anti tank(sp) platoon, royal artillery and an anti tank platoon, royal artillery you can take an extra armoured platoon.
You can download the new file by using the link in previous post.

When using it then you should know the rules.Written in the Rulebook and in the above mentioned handbook. This list don't contain them.
