Irregular Magazine issue 15.

I almost missed it but issue 15 of Irregular Magazine is up for download. For what is in this issue I simply quote the text from their site.
We have a couple of neat tutorials looking first at making cheap terrain and another on how to build your own Roman villa. We have a really interesting interview with Ronnie Renton of Mantic Games about why mantic have gone down the route of using Kickstarter, as well as a look at Mantic’s most recently completed Kickstarter campaign, Deadzone. Also in this issue we have a background piece that can be used for Stargate games, either RPGs or wargames if you’re interested in running an alternative Stargate universe based in the UK.

We have three showcases this issue looking at the work of the talented illustrator Conor Nolan, a look at some of Ian Powell’s wonderfully painted miniatures and the third showcase features Graham Shirley’s awesome Warhammer Greenskin army of Hazmat Gutspilla and the Red Tribe. All three showcases are really well-worth reading.

Finally, we round off this issue with a great short story from the pen of ShaNeil Harada and we have reviews of two games, Dungeon Command and Helldorado.

The Ancible Issue 20 (But no longer for free)

Because this magazine is now no longer for free to download this will be the last time that I will tell on my blog that the latest issue of the Ancible magazine is available. Simple because I don't have the intention of buying the magazine even if it is inexpensive. Beside that is the fact that I can not even buy it. With sadness I have to say goodbye to this magazine.

What is in this issue:
Judge Dredd
Battlestar Galactica
Star Wars x-Wing
Andy does lots of painting

The Ancible issue 19.

Issue 19 of The Ancible is up for download.
In this issue they included the following articles:
-Blue Table Painting. Article about the Blue Table Painting company. A company who paints other peoples models for profit who aren’t too good at, or simply don’t have the time for, this side of the hobby.
-Dystopian Legions.A review Dystopian Legions. A skirmish game set in the Dystopian world made by Spartan Games using 28/32mm models. The review covers the quick play rules that can be downloaded from Spartans website.
-Watching Paint dry. This time Andy Walker paints the Malus Darkblade a 70mm scale, no longer produced, resin piece from Forgeworld. The article shows step by step how he painted the model, his techniques and what paints he used. I can only say the painted model looks amazing.
-Ten games every true miniatures gamer should play. I found this not such a great article and read.
-MechaWar. An other review. This time about the game called Mechawar. A game that make use of Robot models. Oh and the rules can be bought for £1.

The Ancible issue 15

Just downloaded the new Ancible magazine from their site. The magazine has 49 pages of information.
The articles:
Cutlass. This is a new 28mm skirmish game based during the golden age of sail with some unique twists made by Black Scorpion Miniatures.
These are in my opinion some great looking minis.
Andy Walker - On the Spot. An interview.
Star Trek Expeditions. A review of this cooperative board game.
Strange Aeons Expansions. Review of the 3 expansion sets.
Rougue Trader RPG. A write up about this RPG game.
The Last Word. A column.
I must say that this last article made me laugh.

The Ancible Issue 13

This issue of the Ancible is for a great part dedicated to the game "Uncharted Seas". With a big article about the game itself. Further an article how to build and paint the ships and an Uncharted Seas Battle report.
Then there are also articles about the Tänhauser boardgame, Talisman and Malafaux Twisting Fates.
For me personally this Issue has not much to bring although I must say that those Uncharted Seas ship look great and maybe in the future some can be a nice objects to paint.
For those who like to read more you can download the new issue here: The Ancible Issue 13

An apology and the new Ancible

I like to start to say Sorry that i don't give comments on other people's blog. The reason is that I don't have much time left because of the Christmas madness at work. And when I get home I am too tired to do something. I even haven't been painting minis for weeks. Hopefully with the start of the new year I have more time to give comments and start painting again. BTW this doesn't mean that I don't read the blogs.

Next I like to tell that I saw that the new issue of The Ancible is up for download. Issue number 12. I am a little late because it is already available since November.
In this issue you will find:
- Incursion SNAFU
- Watching Paint Dry
- Twilight
- Discworld
- Wargods
- Confrontation
