Me and the Battlefront Flames of War forum.

Well it happened. It was put in motion weeks ago but now I have reached the point that I no longer have any interest in the Battlefront Flames of War forum. There is no longer a reason for me to post anything on the forum. The only thing I do is to see if there is anything useful or important to read. And the answer is simple; no. Sometimes I want to give an answer to a post but then when I am halfway typing I can only think, Who cares. Why the fuck should I bother. And I stop typing and don't post anything.
What once was one happy family no longer is. Lately, no for weeks or even months, the forums are filled with moaners and whiners. Also very common is how rude some people are when they post something on the forums. Towards other forum members and even to the Battlefront staff.
When I started with FoW 4 years ago and became a member of the forum things where much more easy going. I am not saying that there happened nothing at all but things were more relaxed.
At that time when I asked a question about the rules there was always a veteran player around to give a good decent answer and the problem was solved. Nowadays people ask a question and they want an official answer from Phil. An answer from an veteran or other player no longer seems good enough. This is for both Noob and veteran players. This is an other reason to think why bother answering if only answers from Phil are good enough.
For me the Battlefront Flames of War forum is no longer a great place to be. The only thing I'll do is read some threads that look interesting to me and for the rest: why bother.
I still love the game but not the forum.

Thanks for reading.

  1. Maybe Flames of War is becoming as GW, isn' t it?
Instead I don' t like forums with hundreds of members and one post a day...and post of this kind: ohhh, I agree with...

    However Happy Wargaming.

  2. I suppose this is the way the culture has been nurtured. Stopping halfway through an answer and thinking "who cares anyway" has indeed been my thoughts as well lately.

Anyway, there are other forums (where actually you can also talk about other products on the market).

  3. All larger forums go through these fazes Hein: periods of intense discussion which can get a little silly, though things will calm down in a few weeks.

  4. Interesting as I used to look around the FOW forum a lot as well but now it is really only the Gallery that I go and have a look at every now and then.
    cheers

  5. I have a look at the gallery and I have dabbled into some areas. The discussions on rules have been cringe worthy. Some posts are play pens for some who really make the hobby look ugly. I wouldn't say that it has become a GW player forum however some of the attitudes on display have been brought across and dirty the atmosphere.

  7. I know how you feel Hein. Sometimes its best to take yourself out of that world for a while. I need to do that on occasion too. I'm glad you're sticking to what you love, and not letting that other stuff butt its way into your hobby.

  8. Glad to see I am not the only one who's annoyed of dome peoples attitude.
Understand that I don't mind a good and constructive discussion and you may have a critical look on things.
For now I have decided to become a member on the WWPD forum I see things are there.

  9. You think that is hard try moderating there the moment you delte something or lock a thread I become the bad guy. Personally I'll like to permaban at least 20 people as they bring nothing good to the hobby at all.

    1. I must say that I'm glad that I ain't a moderator. I would probably go insane if I am one. Now I can simply turn my back and leave. Must say that it doesn't sound too bad to ban some people. ;-)
