The next platoon for my Early War Escadron de Reconnaissance Company is painted.
It is a Reconnaissance platoon with 5 Renault AMR-35. From these five Renault AMR-35 three are equipped with a 7.5mm MG and two of them have a 13.2mm MG as there main weapon.
As usual the biggest problem was adding the decals. For the French the decals are so tiny that you can hardly see them. Also you have the feeling it takes ages to apply them to the vehicles. Where you normally have the decals applied in a few minutes I think that these took me about 15 minutes per vehicle. And then who ever came with the bright idea to make the roundels in 2 parts, white + red circle and the blue dot, should be fired immediately. I almost went insane when I had to apply these to the vehicles.
Anyway here are the pictures. They are a bit shiny but that is because the lighting wasn't optimal.

Now I have three more platoons to go. A Deep Reconnaissance Platoon, a Medium Combat Platoon and the one I start with now a All-Terrain Towed 105mm Artillery Battery.
My goal was to have the whole company completed in June this year but right now it seems I am not going get the job finished in time. It looks that it will take 1 or 2 extra months.
Thanks for looking and reading.
Lovely stuff but two part decals...you're a better or madder man than me!
ReplyDeleteI think the answer is a madder man. :D
DeleteHein they look good. I didn't think they were that small untill i built mine at work monday(still don't know if the guns are the wright way up?). I don't know which is more madder, the decals or trying to do a 3 tone camo on them ? As for the 105s i think you got one of the last few boxes.
ReplyDeleteLES
Doing a 3 tone camo is much , much easier.;)
DeleteI ma glad I have the box. I just cleaned all the minis.
That is some crazy decal concept. 2 parts! Crikey!
ReplyDeleteGood result in the end though.
cheers
Beautifully painted Hein, and I see your back commenting???
ReplyDeleteYep I am back commenting. Somehow when I did a full system upgrade the allow third party cookies was disabled

ReplyDeleteNice.
I didn't have any problems with the decals, although mainly used the 4th Cuirassier, so somewhat larger than 2DLM ones. The 2 part decals are quite normal for roundels, although in 15mm, the blue is quite fiddly, but I have applied far harder ones in the past, so just being methodical is the answer, plus a good setting solution, such as Microsol and Microscale is imperative!
I am currently doing an Escadron de Combat, WIP is on the FoW gallery page.
