Army file update.

Les pointed out to me that the Hell's Highway - US Airborne (3v1.0) Under Review army file contained some errors that needed fixing. Thanks for that Les.  I have fixed these errors and uploaded the updated file for download (Hell's Highway - US Airborne (3v1.1) Under Review).
Also there is a new file:  Hell's Highway - XXX Corps (3v1.1) Under Review. Even before I could tell here on my blog that I had finished converting a new army file I already had to update it because several things didn't work. Now I hope that these problems are solved too.
It will take some more time now before the next converted file will be up for download.
I have to spent more of my time on some other things.

The next Army File convert from the V2 rules to the V3 rules.

The next 2 converted Under Review army files are:
1) Hell's Highway - US Airborne (3v1.0) Under Review
2) Glider Rifle Company Market Garden PDF (3v1.0) Under Review
This used to be the old Hell's Highway - US Airborne (V3.5) + Glider Rifle Company PDF (V1.5) file. I have now chosen to cut it into 2 separate files.
Besides the Under Review points mentioned in the recent post an other point for these files is the AOP. At the moment it is unclear how the points will be and how it will work with the V3 rules. That is because the AOP from Hell's Highway and the Glider PDF have a different point cost compared to the one from Turning Tide. Also in Hell's Highway and the Glider PDF the AOP doesn't have Column Security, something the AOP does have in the Turning Tide book, but now that Column Security in V3 has become a US National Special Rule it is the question if the AOP from Hell's Highway and the Glider PDF now also have this special rule.
If you find any errors or things aren't working the way it should please let me know.
These army files can be found in the Files page, just click the link right under the header of this blog. The files available are in standard Excel and ODS.
Later on, as soon as all US Airborne files are no longer Under review, all the US Airborne army files will also be combined in 1 big army file.

First Army Files convert from the V2 rules to the V3 rules.

I have the first army files converted from V2 to V3 rules.
1)Turning Tide - US Airborne Divisions (3v1.0) Under Review
2)North Africa - US Parachute Company (3v1.0) Under Review
As you can see these are Under Review files. Under review because of several reasons. First and the most important reason, the direct firing stats for the 81mm Mortars. It is still not clear what those will be. For now I have chosen to use the stats that can be found in the "Stepping Up To Version Three" PDF. Other reason is simple, there is always the possibility Battlefront will change something in point cost or stats, because of the V3 rules, with an errata.
What is new.
All gun teams will get in the arsenal an extra line with the stats for firing as a rifle team.
Mortars with a direct firing stat-line will show what the minimum distance is.
All Anti-Aircraft platoons get an extra stat-line with the stats firing at Aircraft (distance). This last thing is something I didn't do for the self-defence anti-aircraft guns like the .50cal AA MG.
An other thing that has changed is printing the OoB. As I needed more room the OoB will be no longer printed on 1 piece of paper but on 2. One with the company layout and one with the special rules. So if you like to have both you can print both but if you like to have only the Company layout you can decided to print only that and not the special rules.
If you find any errors or things aren't working the way it should please let me know.
These army files can be found in the Files page, click the link right under the header of this blog. The files available are in standard Excel and ODS. There no longer will be Excel 2007 or higher files.

My 2011 / 2012 FoW project 7: 1st Panhard AMD-35 Combat Platoon.

Because of the cold weather we had in this country, lot of work and problems at work I had a minimum of time to get some painting done. But now there is finally an other platoon for my Escadron de Reconnaissance Compagnie painted. The first of two Panhard AMD-35 Combat Platoons.
Personally I think the models came out right although the pictures don't do them justice. If I can think of something that could have done different than it would have been the camo.

As I like to have some variation in painting, the next platoon for my Escadron de Reconnaissance Compagnie will be the Fusiliers Mortar Platoon. Looking at the minis I noticed that these will need some work because there is a lot of flash and mold lines to be removed.

Now I like to welcome all the people who have decided and taken the risk to follow my blog. I hope you will like it here.

Thanks for looking and reading.

FoW V3 rules and my Army files.

With the release of V3 it is time to think about updating my army files to V3. Although not everything is clear yet I can make a start.
Don't rush to the download page to get the new files because there isn't an army file done yet and it can take a while before I have done them all. I have noticed that it will take more time then I thought it would. Also my time to work on the army files has become more limited because of all kind of reasons.
How do you recognize a new army file for V3. Simple behind the name of the file you will see (3v1.0) The 3 is to indicate that the file is for the Version 3 rules. v1.0 is the version number of the file. This last number can change when I change something in the file. So the first time an updated file is uploaded it will have (3v1.0), if I make changes later on this can change to, for example, (3v1.1) or (3v2.0) depending if it is a major change or not.
When updating the files to V3 there will be no more Excel 2007 files. For the simple reason that I can no longer create those files. But this should be not such a big problem because I believe that the new versions of Excel can still handle the old version Excel files.
As soon as an army file is ready for download I will post it here on my blog or you can check if there is an updated army file by clicking on the Files link under the header.
The army files for the Old books like Cobra, D minus 1, Bloody Omaha etc won't be updated to the V3 rules.
At this moment I am not sure what I will do with the V2 army files. Save them all together in 1 folder or simply delete them.

Time for the next platoon to get painted.

Now that my 90. Leichte Afrika Division Schützen Kompanie is done it is time to concentrate me more on my French Escadron de Reconnaissance Early War force.
The platoon that is ready to get painted is a Deep Reconnaissance platoon with 4 Panhard AMD 35.
What will follow after this platoon is a bit unclear as the weather forecast is showing that the temperature will drop below the 0 degrees Celsius. So this means I can't give new platoons a layer of primer or even get painted platoons sealed with varnish because, when it is freezing, I don't have a room with a warm enough temperature to use a spray-can and get a good result. I don't think it is wise to go and spray in the living room or kitchen. Oh well I can't do nothing more then wait and see what happens. Maybe I find a way to solve this problem.

Battlefield in a Box: Italian Vineyards 2

This weekend, in the few hours of free time I had, I decided to enhance my Battlefield in a Box: Italian Vineyards. For this I choose to use the same flock and static grass basing that I use for my Early War French Escadron de Reconnaissance Compagnie. It is a mixture of GFS010 Hobby Round: Spring Undergrowth and a static grass that can be compared with GFS001 Hobby Round: Green Static Grass (both Gale Force Nine). There is one thing I am considering to do and that is to place some little magnets in the fields and vineyard rows to keep the vineyard rows in place during game-play.
How the vineyards looks now can be seen on the 2 pictures below.
And if you want to compare the pictures with how they looked before I enhanced them look here: Battlefield in a Box: Italian Vineyards
